FIFA confirms the disciplinary sanctions imposed for incidents that took place during the latest round of the preliminary competition of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Notably, as a result of a number of incidents (including the invasion of the field of play, the throwing of objects and a lack of order or discipline observed in and around the stadium) that occurred in connection with the match between Sierra Leone and Liberia on 8 September 2019, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has ordered the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) to play one match without spectators. This sanction is to be served when the representative team of Sierra Leone play their next official match. Moreover, the SLFA has been sanctioned with a fine of CHF 50,000.

DESTINATION

Qatar is preparing to make history by hosting not only their first FIFA World Cup™, but the first ever to be staged in the Middle East. And the peninsula promises to produce a World Cup like no other.

It will be the smallest nation ever to host the global finals, for one, allowing visitors to navigate the country with ease – and even plan for watching multiple matches on the same day. Add to the mix traditional Arab hospitality, and winter weather conditions ideal for watching and playing the beautiful game, and Qatar’s World Cup promises to be one to savour.
